About the Department

Rani Dhanya Kumari College, was established on 1st August, 1962 as an institution of Commerce college in the area of Jiaganj. Then it was named by ‘Rani Dhanya Kumari College of Commerce’. In 1997 after inclusion of Arts stream the college was renamed as ‘Rani Dhanya Kumari College’. It traversed a long way successfully fulfilling the aspiration of many students. After running a race of 63 years, it has now become the pride of Murshidabad district. The College is affiliated to the University of Kalyani and offers two undergraduate programmes leading to B.A and B.Com degrees. Besides the degree courses, there are centres of IGNOU, DODL and NSOU which offer open and distance education. This college is a UGC structured Model College which offers 10 major and 11 minor subjects. Not only in academics but also in the field of Sports and Cultural activities the college has immense potential and is gradually living up to it. The NSS and NCC units are very active in this college. This college has also Career Counselling Cell, Women Cell and for the safety of the students there is also Anti Ragging Cell. The college has been regularly upgrading its physical infrastructure for the benefit of the students, staffs, and stakeholders. Right now, the college already has free Wi-Fi, separate boys’ and girls’ common room, canteen, girls’ hostel, playground,24×7 purified drinking water facilities, gym facilities, garage. College also provides Student Credit Card facilities and all type of scholarship facilities given by Central and State Government. Rani Dhanya Kumari College affiliated with 12(B) and 2(f) clause of UGC and has been assessed and accredited by NAAC in the year 2016 (second cycle) and awarded B grade.
