About the Department
The Department of Sociology of RDK college started its journey in the year of 2007 with the initiation of sociology as a B.A Honours with two faculty members and near about 32 students. The students pursuing their undergraduate in the department not only have to learn critical approaches and perspectives in the classroom but are also encouraged to participate in short field visits as part of their research projects. The department actively organizes workshops , seminars, career counselling and other events like debate competition on social issues, drawing competition to enhance students understanding and development in the field. Sometimes departmental smart classes are also arranged.
Infrastructure
The Department of Sociology at Rani Dhanya Kumari College is supported by well developed infrastructural facilities to enrich the teaching-learning process .The intake capacity of sociology Department of this college in Major course is 174. The department has its own two classrooms. The college library has about 2000 text books, additional knowledge books, various magazines and news papers. Students can also read in air-conditioned rooms during their free time. Presently, there is an Assistant Professor and a State Aided College Teacher. Here, students are taught with compassion and study materials are also provided to them.
